MPBI Sanata Dharma University (USD) participated in an international academic forum organized by the College of Teacher Education at Marinduque State University, in collaboration with several higher education institutions in the Philippines. The event served as a platform for exchanging ideas regarding educational challenges and innovations in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education).

The event opened with remarks from Dr. Susan B. Pineda, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, followed by addresses from Caecilia Tutyandari, Vice-Rector IV of Sanata Dharma University, and Ms. Maria Joan C. Ocampo, Head of Faculty and Student Mobility at the International Relations and Linkages Office (IRLO).

A key session featured Prof. Paulus Kuswandono, Ph.D., Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs at USD’s Faculty of Teachers Training and Education, who delivered a presentation titled “Challenges of SDG 4 for Indonesia’s Gen-Z: Rethinking Learning and Assessments.” In his presentation, Prof. Kuswandono examined the challenges Indonesia faces in preparing Generation Z through learning and assessment methods that are more adaptive, reflective, and oriented toward 21st-century competencies.

The forum also featured speakers from the Philippines. Dr. Annalyn J. Decena presented insights from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in a session titled “Literacy as the Global Trend: The PISA Experience,” while Dr. Liza Marie M. Manoos-Pacia discussed secondary education developments in a presentation titled “The Bachelor of Secondary Education: The Philippine Context.”



The event concluded with an open discussion session that brought together academics, lecturers, and students from various institutions to share experiences regarding curriculum development, literacy, and the enhancement of educational quality. During the Q&A session, Ouda Teda Ena, Ed.D., discussed teacher quality improvement and internship programs with Dr. Liza Marie M. Manoos-Pacia.

The closing remarks were delivered by Dr. Willa Mae M. Paredes, Head of the BSEd Program, prior to the group photo session involving all participants. Sanata Dharma University's participation in this forum reaffirms its commitment to strengthening international collaboration, fostering educational innovation, and contributing to the achievement of SDG 4 through research, learning, and global partnerships.
